"We need people in our lives with whom we can be as open as possible. To have real conversations with people may seem like such a simple, obvious suggestion, but it involves courage and risk."

Greetings!
I am so excited to be working with you this year! I look forward to getting to know you and supporting you with your academic career. I know that, together, we will cover a plethora of subject materials and glean a veritable cornucopia of information. Hopefully, we will assimilate the information and synthesize it so that we might create amazing things and learn to take risks with our ideas. Three of my favorite quotes will guide us on our journey together. Anais Nin once said, "We don't see things as they are, we see things as we are." We will work this year, a great deal, with perspective... this is integral to learning and understanding. Next, Gandhi remarked, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." I think that everyone has the opportunity and the responsibility, on a daily basis, to make the world a little bit better... even if it's doing something small and simple. Finally, Johnny Cash, an old country singer, once said, "We're in this together, if we're in it at all." He was right; whether it's our class and school family or our larger community, or us acting as global citizens... we're in this together, so I listen and share as signs of respect and try to understand as a sign of learning. I hope that you will too. I'm so excited to begin our adventure! I hope that you are too! ~Ms. Riser |
